BLACKOUT - Home

The scriptures have always told us that one day the Earth would suffer a devastating impact like no other. One single asteroid could reduce the human world to nothing more than a pile of ashes. Nearly every thousand years, the trajectory of a comet will come dangerously close to the blue planet. Some smaller ones manage to come on, but for a long time, the larger, more destructive ones just went on by. Never before had humans been forced to witness mass destruction from one. However, that was all about to change...

A professor at a prestigious university was very passionate about space and its mysteries, and stayed up late into the night studying anything that he could see. He was the first one to discover the comet coming towards the earth, the first to realize what its affects could be. Alarmed, he informed a friend at NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration). Agreeing to check it out, the friend started researching it too. He agreed soon after that the threat was real, and had little more than a year before the collision took place. No one would be able to escape it, and there was a very high possibility that it would wipe them out, just as it had the dinosaurs.

In the end, the government had no way of saving the people. They attempted to send some into space, away from the impact, but there plans ended in failure when the spaceship erupted into flames before even leaving the atmosphere. At long last, the comet appeared. It was named Rebirth, and it crashed somewhere in the Baltic Sea, causing oceans to raise. The oceans crashed into coastline cities, but that was just the beginning. The shock wave erupted across the planet, causing entire buildings to be ripped from the ground and tossed around like toys.

With it, the comet brought tiny parasites that moved through the air. These parasites entered the host by breathing and attached themselves to the brain. There, they slowly ate away at it, causing insanity. In return, however, it slowly changed the genetic code of the host, giving them supernatural powers. Some survived this, some died, and others rejected the parasite like one would reject a needle.

Some called their powers a gift, and others called it a curse, for with the powers came insanity. The more one used their powers, the more their mind lost emotion and control. Instead of facing an enemy on the outside, the enemy was now on the inside, and stronger than ever before. These people were soon called Monsters, and hated by the public. Some even believed that they were the cause for Rebirth.

As if this wasn't worse enough, a new organization called Blackout appeared. Their goals are unclear, but they seem to be using the Rebirth comet as a weapon somehow. They control the weather, and claim to want nothing more than to bring a new, better future about, even though they are killing innocent people with their ways.

It has been ten years since the comet hit, and mankind hasn't returned to prosperity completely yet. In the end, the world is going to hell. People are dying left and right, the weather is unstable, people are turning into monsters, and now an organization is causing even more trouble. So, one question for you.
